Our Story
John Early Museum Magnet Middle School ranks lower than 81.2% of middle schools in Tennessee. Its zip code 37208 sees more incarcerations of black males per capita of any zip code in the United States. I was one of the fortunate few who made it into the Hume-Fogg Academic High School, a local Blue Ribbon High School, ranked #1 in Nashville. The students who don’t make the cut attend a local high school in which one out of every four students doesn’t graduate. In 2019, not a single student made it to Hume-Fogg from John Early. I had to do something to help the students who were being left behind. Enter FutureCreator
The Mission
Light the pathway to a future of hope and realized potential.
The Vision
Activate Hume-Fogg upper-class men and women, calling upon them to change lives for the better through mentorship, tutoring, and events with the inspiring local community leaders.
We convene students and their parents to call attention to their children's unique path to follow clear from gangs, crime, and poverty. Many John Early 5th grade students read at first and second-grade levels. We must read to them. Many don’t have a role model. We will be that role model. There’s work to do. It’s time to roll up our sleeves.
The Team
A foundation is only as strong as its student leadership and adult mentors. Together with other John Early student alumni, 501c3 fiscal sponsors such as Nashville Made, Arts and Business Council of Greater Nashville, and others sympathetic to our cause, we are moving the needle.
Please join me. Tutors and mentors who want to help students wanted. Visit our website at www.futurecreator.org
